About the Event

"Science of Reading: 5 Manageable Ways to Make the Shift"

Special appearance by Science of Reading: The Podcast host Susan Lambert

Description:

Watching students learn to read: magic. Knowing how they get there: science. So what does the science of reading really mean? What does it tell us about how to teach, and how can we bring those insights and practices into our classrooms? And, more importantly, how do you know which instructional practices to adopt, which to avoid, and whether or not they are the real deal?

Join Charissa Snyder, early literacy and Science of Reading expert, for this two-part interactive workshop. During your time together, Charissa will share critical insights schools and districts can focus on to make the shift to the Science of Reading more manageable for teachers. In addition, she’ll guide you through an in-depth exploration of five incremental and effective practices you can implement right away as you begin your journey toward true Science of Reading instruction. This session will include learning through articles, videos, think-pair-shares, and active whole-group discussions.
