Institute Summary

This institute is designed to enhance the leadership skills, and knowledge of licensed personnel aspiring to become an administrator,

new and Veteran Administrators. Participants will learn from phenomenally successful Superintendents and Executives and will build a strong cohort of future district leaders by providing them with the most current and relevant training and ongoing support as they search for leadership opportunities.

The institute is designed for:

  1. Those who are looking for quality professional learning with a focus on leadership development and are currently serving as a building level Administrator and/or serving as a Central Office Administrator.
  2. Veteran and New Administrative Educational Leaders will benefit from participation.
  3. Aspiring Administrators: those who are serious about pursuing an administrative position will benefit from participation.
  4. A district could send their entire Senior Executive Leadership Team as part of their strategy to enhance growth.

Learning Objectives: Participants will have the opportunity to explore and enhance their knowledge about: ▪  Career Mapping and Pursuing Leadership Role(s) that will increase academic and social growth for students. ▪  Aligned Systems to Increase Student Achievement and bridge achievement gaps. ▪  Effective Steps of Team Building and Community Relations to enhance culture andclimate. ▪  Coaching and Mentoring as a Leader.Program Specifics and 

Logistics:

The institute includes 60 hours of required programming inclusive of independent/group reflections and assignments. THERE IS NO HOMEWORK AS THERE WILL BE GROUP LEARNING ACTIVITIES IN SESSIONS.  In this Virtual institute, participants will gain the knowledge and skills of essential leadership roles and responsibilities necessary for optimal success. Current relevant and rigorous leadership core competencies will be addressed giving participants the opportunity to reflect and disseminate research-based knowledge. Participants will also explore and examine effective educational leadership behaviors and skills that will enhance an optimal teaching and learning environment as well as workplace environment.

NASA’s leadership institute will also give participants the opportunity to understand their motivational drivers, emotional intelligence, and communication methods to establish a personal leadership style, and apply or adapt their leadership style to meet specific challenges within a school district, and the teaching and learning environment. Information on how to manage the conditions that drive team performance, coach colleagues, and share feedback in ways that enable them to develop as educational leaders will be the focus of the institute. 

In the demanding field of education, being an Educational Administrator, whether it’s at the school-site level or district level can be overwhelming and exhausting. Not only are you responsible for supervision, policies, mentoring, coaching, promoting educational opportunities for student growth, achievement, and social growth, you are responsible for much more! By incorporating the learning practices that you will be exposed to during this institute, you will be able to combat stress and build resilience which will allow you to show up as the best version of yourself. You will also gain relevant information on enhancing your professional growth and career advancement as an educational leader.

EXPECTATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • THERE WILL BE NO HOMEWORK!
  • Guided practices will be done DURING some synchronous sessions in small groups - meeting and times below. THERE IS NO HOMEWORK REQUIRED! THE SYNCHRONOUS TIMES BELOW ADD UP TO 90 HOURS, WHICH IS 4 CREDITS, 20 CUs, AND SALARY ADVANCEMENT IN CLARK, WASHOE AND MOST NEVADA COUNTIES!
  • To receive the full 4 license renewal credits and all salary advancement hours, participants must attend every session. Participants will not receive credit if they are not present. There will not be makeup sessions.
  • This is a leadership institute, not a conference. ACCEPTABLE ABSENCES ARE ALLOWED FOR illness, injury, and family emergency. If an absence is known in advance, please notify Dr. Peay via email- gretapeay1979@gmail.com prior to the missed class session.WE DO NOT want you to stop your registration if you have conflicts. Call and talk with us first before deciding not to enroll.
  • Because this is a leadership institute, we want ANY/ALL educators wishing to fine-tune their leadership skills to attend. Participation is expected for optimal learning. Participants will be asked to keep their cameras on (we understand sometimes they have to be turned off, and that is okay; however, it should not be the norm). Participants will be expected to participate in breakout room invitations and remain professional when discussing multiple perspectives.

ALL are welcome, including anyone in a non-administrative position!

Participants will earn 4 credits (60 hours) toward license renewal!

This workshop ALSO counts for step advancement in Clark and most Nevada School Districts!

In CCSD, those in non-administrative licensed positions may count this workshop for license renewal AND ALSO 20 CUs - THOSE IN NON-ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS EARN BOTH!

In CCSD, administrators and professional-technical administrators may count this workshop for license renewal OR 20 hours toward step-advancement - not both for administrators.

Washoe County participants will be required to also register for this course in "MyPGS" in order to receive in-service credit toward salary advancement.

Washoe County School District (WCSD) participants are required to submit a 300-word essay on how they will implement this professional learning to increase student achievement before a certificate is issued.

Session 9: May 13 and 14, 2025:  4:30 PM - 8:00 PM both days (7 Hours)
