Workshop Description:
Time management plays a vital role in improving a student's academic performance and achievement. Every student should have the ability to time manage and strategies to assist with this life skill. For a student to achieve academically, setting goals and priorities is at the forefront of the work. This can only occur successfully when students have the skillset and mechanisms for organizing their time and understanding the importance of positive and negative factors that can influence our academics and performance due to poor planning. Between assessments, assemblies, activities, and absences, there is often not enough time in a day, no less one school year to instruct on every standard, in any subject. It is important for our students to learn all the required material, but it is also important that they are given the tools to ensure their learning stays with them. As educators, we need to be the timekeepers for our students and their learning, but never move so fast that the game is over, before every student had an opportunity to play. This workshop will open with a high-level overview of time management, but by the end of the session, participants will have real-time solutions in hand to implement the next school day.
Outcomes
- Participants will review professional articles discussing how they can effectively manage their time with students.
- Participants will learn effective tips to work with students who may struggle with time management while ensuring whole group instruction is not compromised.
- Participants will focus on the effects of time management and how to better prepare students for after graduation.
