Due to Washoe County School District (WCSD) salary advancement requirements, WCSD participants will be asked to submit a brief written summation of how this professional learning event will transfer learning into practice before a certificate is issued. Workshop Description:

In today's rapidly changing world, students need to develop skills that will help them succeed for the future. Project-based learning (PBL) has been shown to be an effective teaching methodology that helps students build essential skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, and communication.

In this session, we will explore the best practices and strategies for implementing PBL in K-12 inclusion classrooms. You will learn how to design and implement PBL projects that engage students, foster creativity, reach each and every student no matter how they learn and promote deeper learning. We will also discuss how to assess PBL projects and provide constructive feedback to students. In addition to learning and practicing the skills for creating PBL projects, you'll receive a free planning guide on how create projects. This session is interactive and you'll walk away with new ideas, skills and resources to help you plan and implement project-based learning.

As all PreK-12 educators understand the importance of using real world examples and activities to help our students make meaning of the content, this workshop will deliver effective teaching approaches proven to help students develop crucial skills like critical thinking, collaboration, and communication. Recognizing the advantages of project-based learning for all Pre K-12 students and how it supports all levels of learners, participants will be able to tailor activities that cater to individual student needs. By creating PBL projects that adhere to learning objectives and standards as well as the understanding of how to evaluate the work produced by the students, especially as it crosses content matter, all participants will depart with practical strategies and resources to facilitate the initiation of PBL implementation.

Understanding the benefits of project-based learning for K-12 students Identifying the essential elements of an effective PBL project Designing PBL projects that align with learning objectives and standards Assessing student learning in PBL projects

Differentiating implementation based on students needs Providing feedback to students that encourages reflection and growth By the end of the session, participants will have a deeper understanding of how to design and implement effective PBL projects in their classrooms. They will leave with practical strategies and resources to help them get started with PBL implementation.

Biography of Presenter:

Nancy Mikhail is a dynamic Educational Consultant and Curriculum Developer renowned for her innovative approach to student success and the creation of engaging pedagogy. Specializing in active learning projects that exceed education standards, Nancy's expertise stems from her extensive background as a principal and teacher, where her primary focus has been the success and engagement of every student. Her educational journey spans across various grades, from preschool to twelfth grade, showcasing her versatile skills that transcend the traditional classroom setting. As the founder of a prestigious project-based learning resource and educational consulting firm, Nancy has revolutionized teaching methods, not only within schools but also in after-school programs, academic advising, and nonprofit organizations. A regular participant and presenter at educational conferences and workshops, her enthusiasm for teaching and educational reform is evident. Nancy's proficiency in curriculum development is particularly notable in language strategies and guided reading. This workshop ALSO counts for step advancement in Clark and most Nevada School Districts! & In CCSD, those in non-administrative licensed positions may count this workshop for license

renewal AND ALSO CU accrual - THOSE IN NON-ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS EARN BOTH!

In CCSD, administrators and professional-technical administrators may count this workshop for license renewal OR hour accrual toward step-advancement - not both for administrators.

Washoe County participants will be required to also register for this course in "MyPGS" in order to receive in-service credit toward salary advancement.
