Workshop Description:

Dive deep into the fascinating realms of neuroplasticity, growth mindset, and mindfulness, gaining insights into how these concepts can empower both educators and students alike. Session 1: Dave Beal

Dave, CEO of Brain Power Wellness (BPW) and author of "The Brain Power Classroom," leverages extensive experience as a former classroom teacher to coach administrators, teachers, parents, and students for the past fifteen years. His mission is to empower US schools with SEL, mindfulness, community building, and holistic wellness practices. BPW has impacted over 500 schools, training 25,000 teachers and 500,000 students. Dave has presented at prominent venues, including the United Nations and Nike Corporate Headquarters, and has coached numerous principals and superintendents. With a BA from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and a Masters in Education from PACE University, he is currently working on his second book focusing on mindfulness, brain training, and holistic self-care for effective executive leadership.

Session 2: Evi Zaimi and Kelvin Tirado

Evi is an Albanian native who grew up in Greece. Evi has a bachelor's degree in Photography and Advertising from Salem State University in Massachusetts. She is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Evi has experience working with children, adolescents, and younger adults in crises. Evi has been practicing meditation since 2015 and has changed her life completely. Her mindfulness practices have helped her gain awareness of her physical, emotional, and mental body, live in the present moment and deepen her relationship with herself and her environment. Evi's goal and passion have always been to work with children and adolescents and empower them to connect to themselves and tap into their full potential.

Kelvin is an accomplished self-published spoken word poet with a passion for the arts, the outdoors, and music. After graduating from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a Major in English Literature and a Minor in Psychology, Kelvin has been performing his poetry around the country, captivating audiences with his thought-provoking and powerful performances.As a former educator, Kelvin understands the importance of positive impact not only for students but for educators and staff as well. This led him to pursue his work at Brain Power Wellness, where he is dedicated to helping individuals achieve optimal health and wellness through education and support. Kelvin's love for the arts, coupled with his educational background, has enabled him to develop a unique perspective on the intersection of creativity, mental health, and wellbeing. He remains committed to empowering individuals to lead healthy and fulfilling lives. Kelvin's pronouns are he/him.

Session 3: Rebecca Wheaton

Rebecca Wheaton is the District of Columbia and Maryland Field Coordinator and Bilingual Trainer for Brain Power Wellness. She began implementing Brain Power Wellness Strategies in South Korea as a Brain Power English teacher in 2005. She holds a BA in Humanities and Eastern Philosophy Studies from Earlham College. She has worked as a counselor for at-risk youth and leadership development internationally for the past 15 years including 7 years implementing Brain Power Wellness in Nicaragua, Central America. In addition to her work in Washington DC and Maryland she also heads our Online Instruction department for BPW.

ALL are welcome, including anyone in a non-administrative position!

Participants will earn .5 credit (7.5 hours) toward license renewal!

This workshop ALSO counts for step advancement in Clark and most Nevada School Districts!

In CCSD, those in non-administrative licensed positions may count this workshop for license renewal AND ALSO 2.5 CUs - THOSE IN NON-ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS EARN BOTH!

(unlimited CUs in this category for those in non-administrative positions)

In CCSD, administrators and professional-technical administrators may count this workshop for license renewal OR 2.5 hours toward step-advancement - not both for administrators.

(maximum of 30 hours per advancement cycle for administrators in this category)!

Washoe County participants will be required to also register for this course in "MyPGS" in order to receive in-service credit toward salary advancement.
