Due to Washoe County School District (WCSD) salary advancement requirements, WCSD participants will be asked to submit a brief written summation of how this professional learning event will transfer learning into practice before a certificate is issued. Workshop Description:
Educators (teachers, administrators and staff) did not enter education for the pay or daily accolades from society; they are in it because they care about kids. The standardized testing craze and pandemic have terrified students, overwhelmed parents and led many great educators to quit. Come join Danny as he reminds you of your importance as an educator in the every day development of children. He’ll remind you how to laugh, sing, dance and play in order to bring the joy back into education so that you can be at your best for the students you serve.

All participants will be guided on their journey to rediscovering their professional contentment, personal fulfillment and daily joy by building up engagement and making emotional connections that improve instructional practices for ALL students.

Objective #1: Enhance Educational Administrators' Understanding of the Impact of Joy on Educational Environments
Learning Outcome: By the end of the presentation, attendees will be able to articulate the psychological and academic benefits of fostering a joyful atmosphere within their schools, understanding how it positively influences student engagement, teacher satisfaction and overall school culture.
Objective #2: Equip Educational Administrators with Practical Strategies to Cultivate Joyful School Environments
Learning Outcome: Attendees will acquire a toolkit of actionable strategies and best practices aimed at infusing joy into various aspects of school life, including classroom interactions, curriculum design, extracurricular activities and staff interactions. They will leave with concrete ideas and approaches to implement within their schools immediately.

Learning Outcome: Attendees will develop the ability to identify potential obstacles to cultivating joy in educational settings, such as institutional constraints, systemic issues or staff morale challenges. Through interactive discussions and case studies with specific strategies, they will explore effective leadership strategies to address these challenges and build a resilient, joy-centric educational culture.

Increased Awareness and Articulation of Joy's Impact Attendees will demonstrate a heightened awareness of the multifaceted impact of joy on educational environments. They will be able to articulate and communicate how a joyful atmosphere positively influences student engagement, teacher satisfaction and overall school culture.
Implementation of Practical Joyful Strategies Attendees will learn practical strategies during the presentation that they can share with all educational stakeholders (including teachers, parents, staff and students) to cultivate joy within their schools. Tangible changes may include the introduction of joyful elements in classrooms, adjustments to curricular approaches and the integration of activities that enhance staff well-being and satisfaction.
Effective Problem-Solving for a Joy-Centric Culture Attendees will exhibit improved problem-solving skills by identifying and overcoming challenges to joy in education. renewal AND ALSO CU accrual - THOSE IN NON-ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS EARN BOTH!
In CCSD, administrators and professional-technical administrators may count this workshop for license renewal OR hour accrual toward step-advancement - not both for administrators.
Washoe County participants will be required to also register for this course in "MyPGS" in order to receive in-service credit toward salary advancement.
