About the Event

"Effective Classroom Management: Create Environments Where Students Feel Safe, Supported, and Motivated to Learn”

Workshop Description:

If we want our classroom to provide positive learning experiences, we need to implement clear and consistent strategies that minimize disruptions and promote meaningful student engagement.

As teachers, we’re expected to provide rigorous differentiated instruction, social-emotional support, and behavior management among students with varying needs and abilities. The challenges we face while playing each of these roles can often lead to feelings of overwhelm and burnout. But what if we reframed these roles as opportunities to support academic success rather than a distraction from it?

Classroom management is a carefully and intentionally chosen set of routines, procedures, and expectations for behavior in your classroom. In this workshop, we show you how to construct a management system that champions positive classroom relationships and academic success for your students.

Effective classroom management:

Empowers student agency

When we set high expectations for behavior and performance, we create a culture that equips our students to take ownership of their learning.

Helps students self-regulate

Intentional classroom management supports social-emotional skills development - guiding our students as they learn to navigate challenges and advocate for their needs.

Improves academic performance

With fewer behavior disruptions, teachers are able to focus on improving instruction while students are able to learn with minimal distractions.

Support student and teacher well-being

Consistent and clear expectations minimize stress for both students and teachers, creating a positive learning environment for all to thrive

In this workshop you and your staff will learn how to:

Implement Positive Behavioral Supports

We'll walk you through various models of discipline and classroom management techniques and help you identify which strategies would best support your classroom community.

Apply Restorative and Trauma-Informed Practices

We'll step you through the research behind student behavior and social-emotional development and show you evidence-based management strategies to support your students’ social and academic success.
