Workshop Summary:

In today’s culture of increased remote learning combined with the competing demands of screen time and technology, our students are struggling to stay connected to their learning and our teachers feel frustrated with their lack of focus and engagement. A Gallup survey shows that less than half of our students feel engaged in school.

We can help students feel the drive and motivation to engage, learn work effectively, and achieve their potential at school, but we have to do things a bit differently. Learning simple techniques to increase their interest and enjoyment of school makes a big difference.

In this workshop, you’ll learn how to:

●         Motivate today’s students to learn

●         Connect with students in a meaningful way

●         Increase student engagement & promote student ownership of learning

●         Implement engagement resources and student-centered learning

●         Create an interactive classroom

●         Provide opportunities for student voice & choice

Every educator has the potential to instill a sense of drive and motivation in students, fostering effective learning and helping them reach their academic potential. However, to achieve this, we need to adopt innovative strategies. In this workshop, all Pre K -12  participants will acquire straightforward techniques that enhance students' interest and enjoyment of school which we known can yield significant benefits. Tasks that are intentionally designed to engage and employ the cognitive abilities and skills of all students as well as pose substantial cognitive challenges suitable for learners with diverse needs will help ensure growth in student achievement.  When we anticipate that students can attain elevated levels of achievement and offer the necessary support, they will experience success. Increasing rigor and establishing high expectations begins with acknowledging that each student has the potential to succeed at their unique level.
