WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

This course is about learning to be wholehearted and to engage with the world from a place of worthiness and value. It will focus on ways to practice courage by showing up in ways that increase your ability to show compassion to yourself and others and by offering tools and tips for authentic connection.

When people wish us “HAPPY Holidays,” "HAPPY Hanukkah," or “MERRY Christmas,” they mean it. But, too often, we let stress and self-imposed expectations create a holiday season that’s anything but happy or merry.

Along life’s journey, I’ve learned a few things that help keep the joy in the season and take care of emotional wellness, especially in 2020.

Topics to Include:

• Learn how to give yourself time, don’t wait until the last minute.
• Stick to your budget.
• Being present rather than being perfect.
• Your wellness is more important than your guest list.
• Setting boundaries and accepting them.
• Traditions can be great but trying new things might be what you need to do!

This evening will give educators some tools to help understand, identify and label your emotions accurately so you can express and regulate them in a healthy way. We will exchange ideas on how to support each other to create more of an authentically inspired work environment and bring a little (hopefully more than a little) joy back in your lives and classrooms. Lastly, we will learn about different facial expressions and behaviors in your students so we can be curious and help to ensure all of our emotional health.

Kimberly Malloy is a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator, which is the work based in the research of Dr. Brene Brown. This course will be taking some of the guideposts from her book, The Gifts of Imperfection as well as incorporating some psychoeducational tools Kimberly uses in her therapy practice. It will have all the benefits of group therapy without the financial cost or deep vulnerability but with lots of humor and practical tools!

ALL are welcome, including anyone in a non-administrative position!

Participants will earn .5 credit (7.5 hours) toward license renewal free!

This workshop ALSO counts for step advancement in most Nevada School Districts, INCLUDING Washoe and Clark!

In CCSD, those in non-administrative licensed positions may count this workshop for license renewal AND ALSO CU accrual - THOSE IN NON-ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS EARN BOTH!

(unlimited CUs in this category for those in non-administrative positions)

In CCSD, administrators and professional-technical administrators may count this workshop for license renewal OR hour accrual toward step-advancement - not both for administrators.

(maximum of 30 hours per year for administrators in this category)!

Washoe County participants will be required to also register for this course in "MyPGS" in order to receive in-service credit toward salary advancement.
