Workshop Summary:

This interactive workshop fosters a shift towards a more human-centered learning environment, one where every member of the school community feels seen, heard, and valued.  Through engaging activities and insightful discussions, participants will explore the components of a sustainable, healthy school culture – one that thrives on collaboration and empowers educators to leverage their unique strengths so that they can be at their best for the students they serve; hence, optimizing student engagement, achievement, and practices to close achievement gaps!

The session delves into strength-based strategies to move away from isolated practices and build a collaborative spirit so that all parties will work together in the best interest of ALL students. Participants will discover their own inner genius - their natural brain-wired strengths – and learn how to identify and value the strengths of others.

Through self-reflection and practical tools, educators will gain a deeper understanding of their impact on their school culture and how to then work together for the benefits of ALL children therein.  This workshop will equip participants with the language and strategies to articulate what a healthy school culture looks like and empower them to infuse wellbeing into every aspect of their school community.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Participants will be able to identify components of a sustainable healthy school culture that is psychologically safe for staff and students.
  • Participants will walk away with the tools and language to articulate what a healthy culture is and how that leads to an organization that focuses on wellbeing for staff and students.
  • Participants will better understand their uniquely wired strengths and how to use Talent Dynamics to work in teams.
  • Participants will gain tools to identify and appreciate the strengths of others.
  • Participants will understand the importance of connection in addressing the mental wellbeing of all school stakeholders.
  • The workshop will provide strategies for fostering collaboration and moving away from siloed practices.
  • Educators will develop the language and skills to advocate for a healthy school culture.

This interactive workshop-style session will provide participants with an immersive and engaging experience that draws on the latest research in neuroscience and positive psychology. We will explore the key components of a thriving school community, including self-awareness, self-regulation and self-advocacy.  We will also provide practical strategies for navigating obstacles and building trust and emotional safety.

Creating a positive psychologically safe learning environment is essential for promoting the wellbeing and success of both students and teachers, and can have lasting positive effects on students' lives. We all know the following statistics and know we must work together to ensure the culture in our schools fosters this on a daily basis.

  • A positive school climate is associated with improved academic performance, student engagement, and reduced absenteeism and dropout rates. (National School Climate Center).
  • Students who feel safe at school are more likely to report positive mental health and wellbeing, and less likely to experience anxiety, depression, or suicidal thoughts. (National Association of School Psychologists).
  • Teachers who work in schools with positive climates report higher job satisfaction, less burnout, and are more likely to stay in their positions. (National Center for Education Statistics).
  • A positive school climate can reduce the likelihood of student violence and bullying, and increase prosocial behavior among students. (U.S. Department of Education).Research suggests that a positive school climate can have long-term effects on students' life outcomes, including higher educational attainment, better physical health, and lower rates of criminal behavior. (American Psychological Association)

Throughout the workshop we will be delivering real world, immediately implementable tools and strategies to make a difference today for your students, staff and colleagues.

Previous attendees have reported a deeper understanding of their own strengths and a greater ability to navigate obstacles and build trust and emotional safety within their school community.

The session will be led by experienced facilitators who draw on their own expertise working with thousands of educators and students over the past 20 years, as well as the latest research in the field to provide a comprehensive and practical learning experience.

Overall, this session will provide a thought-provoking and immersive exploration of how to harness the power of neuroscience and positive psychology for a thriving school community, and equip you with the tools you need to make a positive impact in your school.

You will walk away feeling seen, heard and valued…with the confidence and clarity to pay it forward and bring the human back to the center of your school community.
