Workshop Description:

Restorative Practices are being implemented in many schools throughout the United States of America from elementary, middle school and high school to help reduce school suspensions, reduce office referrals, restoring relationships among students, developing a school ethos that helps reduce the possibilities of rising conflict while repairing harm in the community. School districts are realizing zero tolerance is not working and hurting the students with missing academic work and have a higher risk of becoming a statistic for the school to the prison pipeline. Many school districts are changing their mindset and looking for an alternative approach to discipline.

In this Restorative Justice workshop participants will learn how to incorporate the restorative continuum into their schools starting with assertive statements, proactive circles, restorative circles and RJ Conferences. This workshop will have participants engaged in mock-up circles and conferences to help implement these strategies in a real life school situation.
