Due to Washoe County School District (WCSD) salary advancement requirements, WCSD participants will be asked to submit a brief written summation of how this professional learning event will transfer learning into practice before a certificate is issued. WCSD participants: please use the link provided on the Guidance/Link sheet for each event to submit. Andrew Marotta
Educator, Author, Speaker, Professional Developer, Leadership Professor, & former NCAA Basketball Official
Andrew Marotta is the Director of Communications & Academic Services at Port Jervis Schools, NY. He was Principal & AP for the last 20 years in the great small city of Port Jervis. He took on a new challenge in the 23-24 school year moving to this director position allowing him to promote and carry the banner for Port Schools in a new and creative way while giving him more flexibility to travel and present nationally as an inspirational speaker. He is a husband, father, adjunct professor of school leadership, former Division 1 men's college basketball official, speaker, & author.
Andrew is also the leader of the Surviving & Thriving movement. Andrew is an energizing & impactful speaker, author, and school leader. He lives the words on his logo & strives to positively #IMPACT all he meets. A master storyteller, Andrew engages his audiences and fellow leaders with authentic and heartfelt stories, memorable props, and collaborative, fun, &, thought-provoking activities.
Additionally, Andrew officiated Men’s Division 1 college basketball at the highest level for almost 20 years. ACC, A-10, CAA, Patriot, IVY, MAAC, & the NEC were the conferences he worked all the while being a school Principal. This was quite challenging & Andrew survived & thrived through it all. Being relentless, showing presence, confidence, and an understanding of people & pressure in the spotlight are all things he learned and brings to his audience while speaking to them on leadership & perseverance.
He is a highly sought-after motivational speaker and the author of 5 leadership books, most recently completing a collaborative, inspirational book entitled HATS: Heartfelt Acts for Teachers, Students, & Staff.
He is married for 22 years to his high school sweetheart Jennifer & is blessed with three wonderful kids: Claire, Matthew & Tessa!

As all PreK-12 educators strive to be engaging in their practice, this workshop will help participants learn to develop strong, successful relationships with all stakeholders by actively working to get input from colleagues and staff, employing a range of data sources to engage in self-reflection on their professional practice. Participants will gain strategies that will help close learning gaps as all educators ensure that assessment opportunities are in harmony with learning objectives, daily plans, and performance criteria in educational settings that are inviting, open to, and engaging all learners.
ALL are welcome, including anyone in a non-administrative position!
NASA IS NOT A UNION. NASA is Nevada's PreK-12 Professional Development Organization for ALL Nevada Educators!
Participants will earn .5 credit (7.5 hours) toward license renewal!
This workshop ALSO counts for step advancement in Clark and most Nevada School Districts!

In CCSD, those in non-administrative licensed positions may count this workshop for license renewal AND ALSO 2.5 CUs - THOSE IN NON-ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS EARN BOTH!
In CCSD, administrators and professional-technical administrators may count this workshop for license renewal OR 2.5 hours toward step-advancement - not both for administrators.
All participants earn license renewal credit by taking this event!
Washoe County participants may receive salary advancement- please look in MyPGS 1-2 weeks after NASA posts this offering to see if inservice credits are offered.
If so, Washoe County School District (WCSD) participants are required to register in MyPGS and submit an artifact (which will be specified) on how they will implement this professional learning to increase student achievement before a certificate is issued.
