Workshop Description:
Educators play a key role in supporting LGBTQ+ youth. But how can educators best support the sex and gender diverse students they serve? The solution can be found in Universal Design for Learning (UDL). UDL is a research-based framework that plans for diversity and variability in all forms. By utilizing UDL as the foundation for implementing LGBTQ+ policies, educators can better plan for the diverse identities on their campuses and in their classrooms. Let's work together to create inclusive and supportive learning environments for all students.
Outcomes: By the end of the workshop, participants will:
- Recognize the critical role they play in the lives of LGBTQ+ students.
- Gain an understanding of the UDL framework and associated guidelines.
- Be able to use UDL as a framework for implementing their district'sLGBTQ+ policies.
- Identify connections between evidence based LGBTQ+ best practices and the UDL guidelines to advance statewide equity goals.
