Workshop Description

This course will provide an extensive overview of the Tier I instructional materials and resources for social studies instruction in the District. Experts from the Curriculum and Instruction Division will provide strategies and teaching tools to optimize the use of current social studies Tier I instructional materials. Participants will explore high-quality instructional materials and learn how to leverage the materials to support all students. Educators will leave the session with teaching strategies and resources that can be implemented in the classroom immediately following the session.

Kendra Kelley

Mrs. Kelley is a Social Studies Coordinator for the Clark County School District in the Humanities Department. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Education, focusing on Middle Grades in Language Arts and Social Studies from Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio, and her Master's degree in Urban Studies Education from Nova Southeastern University. Mrs. Kelley earned a Master of Education in Advanced Teaching and Leadership from Sierra Nevada College. Mrs. Kelley began her career in education teaching middle school social studies in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District in 2002. She transitioned to the Clark County School District in 2005, teaching English Language Arts and Geography, grade 8, at three Clark County School District middle schools. She was then promoted to school administrator and served as a middle school Dean and Assistant Principal and high school Assistant Principal. Presently, she serves as an instructional leader providing professional learning, social studies curricular support, and guidance to school, staff, and the community to support Social Studies programs.

Timothy Stolte

Mr. Stolte currently serves as a social studies coordinator in the Curriculum and Instruction Division of the Clark County School District (CCSD). He formerly held roles as a high school social studies educator, social studies project facilitator, and assistant principal. He graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education, and a Master of Education in Advanced Teaching and Leadership from Sierra Nevada College.

Mr. Stolte participated in a field-based teacher preparation program where he provided professional learning to new teachers through Educator Meet-Ups and New Teacher Symposiums with the CCSD’s Employee and Onboarding Department. He served as an essay scorer for the Advanced Placement United States History exam with the Educational Testing Service and College Board. Currently, he supports administrators and teachers in providing high-quality, standards-based social studies instruction to support the academic achievement of Clark County students.

CCSD Administrators:

Activity completion status for administrators will be confirmed with the signed Approval Form and Enterprise Learning Management System (ELMS) training record for Domain 3 accrual at the 1:1 activity time:advancement accrual rate. A NASA completion certificate is not needed/will not be accepted for this activity.

CCSD Teachers/Other Licensed Education Personnel:

Activity completion status for teachers/other licensed education personnel will be confirmed by the PGS Department with the CCSD PD in the ELMS training record at the 3:1 activity time:Contact Unit accrual rate, no action by the participating employee is needed for accrual. A NASA completion certificate is not needed/will not be accepted for this activity.

CCSD Administrators: Activity completion status for administrators will be confirmed with ELMS training record for Domain 3 accrual, a NASA completion certificate is not needed/will not be accepted for this activity.

CCSD Teachers/Other Licensed Education Personnel: Activity completion status for teachers/other licensed education personnel will be confirmed by the PGS Department with the CCSD PD in the ELMS training record, no action by the participating employee is needed for accrual. A NASA completion certificate is not needed/will not be accepted for this activity.
