Workshop Description:

As teachers, we are guides in both the academic and personal development of our students. We witness our students’ personal growth, struggles, and successes as they learn how to appropriately manage behavior, regulate emotions, and build relationships within their schools and communities. The Happiness Lab provides both teachers and students guided instruction to develop positive social and emotional well-being within the classroom.

This workshop provides teachers with daily mini-lessons to support students' social and emotional development in students’ perspectives, self-efficacy, gratitude, kindness, and mindfulness.

These mini-lessons are engaging, multimodal, and collaborative. Students will have the opportunity to engage in relevant research, collaborate with peers, and practice various strategies to support their regulation of emotions and behaviors. In addition, teachers can promote their students’ personal and academic success by providing social and emotional learning in the classroom.

Workshop Outcomes:

  1. Students will engage with relevant research of social and emotional well-being to understand their emotional state and needs.
  2. Students will collaborate with peers to build classroom relationships and community.
  3. Students will practice a variety of social and emotional regulation strategies to better manage and regulate their own emotions and behaviors.
  4. Students will create and implement personal self-care plans and routines to support their emotional well-being.
  5. Students will implement daily social and emotional well-being strategies to implement and maintain a positive perspective and emotional state.
  6. Teachers will be able to implement a social and emotional learning curriculum in their classrooms to support their students’ social and emotional well-being and promote personal and academic success.
