Workshop Description:

This workshop will provide educators in grades Pre-K -12 with research-based strategies designed to develop social-emotional learning skills for both students and adults. This session will focus on the five (5) core SEL competencies via the Center for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL). Participants will receive information about activities and resources to use to teach SEL skills to students, as well as reminding them of the importance of SEL, and mental well-being for adults.

Educators can experience compassion fatigue or burnout, making it necessary to develop healthy wellbeing practices. Incorporating Social Emotional Learning (SEL) practices helps to combat stress, build resilience, and create a thriving learning environment, supporting students' educational experience. SEL promotes educational equity and excellence through collaborative efforts between schools, families, and communities. It fosters healthy identities, emotion regulation, empathy, supportive relationships, responsible decision making and achieving personal and collective goals.
