Due to Washoe County School District (WCSD) salary advancement requirements, WCSD participants will be asked to submit a brief written summation of how this professional learning event will transfer learning into practice before a certificate is issued. Workshop Description:

To provide educators with innovative and transformative classroom strategies and tools to create personalized, student-driven learning environments, to best foster essential skills in demand for tomorrow's world.

Key Takeaways & Outcomes:

At the completion of this workshop, all PreK-12 participants will be aware of and able to navigate the ever evolving skill requirements for the future and guide students on optimal methods that will equip them for success in an ever-growing, digital, and constantly connected global environment. All attendees will gain the skills to adopt effective methods and tools to create, adapt, and personalize learning experiences tailored to diverse learner needs as we know this helps to decrease student learning gaps. Additionally, emphasizing strategies and methodologies that pivot towards student-centered approaches, fostering greater student ownership in the learning process will ensure support for students of varying backgrounds.

Key Objectives:

The key objectives are to help educators be aware of the changing demands in skills for the future and how to best prepare students to thrive in an increasingly complex, digital, and interconnected world. Focus on how to prepare students for future careers by reviewing the skills in demand, as listed by the World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs Report.

To help educators with implementing methods and tools that will be the most effective for creating, adapting and personalizing learning experiences for diverse learner needs. Also, highlight strategies and methodologies that shift the focus to more student-centered approaches and promote more student ownership in learning. Provide essential professional development for educators to help them stay informed of the latest educational technologies and pedagogical trends. Beyond SEL and the essential in-demand skills such as critical thinking, creativity, problem- solving, and collaboration, also provide essential training and tools for educators with the use of AI and other emerging technologies.

Tangible Outcomes:

Participants will learn and be ready to implement actionable strategies and digital toolkits for the classroom. Educators will learn how to create inclusive, student-centered learning environments which foster the development of the essential skills.

Biography of Presenter:

Rachelle Dené Poth stands at the forefront of educational innovation as an esteemed edtech consultant, presenter, attorney, author, and dedicated teacher at Riverview Junior Senior High School in Oakmont, PA. Specializing in Spanish and STEAM with a focus on emerging technology, Rachelle’s educational journey is marked by a rich tapestry of academic and professional achievements. She holds a Juris Doctor degree from Duquesne University School of Law and a Master’s in Instructional Technology. Her passion for lifelong learning sees her currently pursuing a second doctorate in Educational Technology. Rachelle’s expertise is recognized internationally, exemplified by her roles as an ISTE Certified Educator and a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert. She has led as a past-president of the ISTE Teacher Education Network and contributed significantly to the Mobile Learning Network. Her dedication to the field has been honored with the prestigious ISTE Making IT Happen Award in 2019 and multiple Presidential gold and silver awards for her volunteer service to education. Her influence extends globally, being named one of 150 Women Global Thought Leaders in 2022 and one of 30 K-12 IT Influencers in 2021. An accomplished author, Rachelle has penned seven books, with two more in the works focusing on AI and edtech. Her latest book, "Things I Wish [...] Knew," unites the insights of 50 educators worldwide. Rachelle is a sought-after speaker, regularly presenting at state, national, and international conferences, and offers professional development, keynotes, and coaching on assessments, AI, AR, VR, and STEM. In addition to her educational roles, Rachelle is a prominent columnist for Edutopia, Getting Smart, Defined Learning, and NEO LMS. She hosts the ThriveinEDU podcast, a PBL Podcast by Defined Learning on the BAM Radio Network, and ThriveinEDU Live, cultivating a vibrant community of educators on Facebook.

This workshop ALSO counts for step advancement in Clark and most Nevada School Districts! & In CCSD, those in non-administrative licensed positions may count this workshop for license

renewal AND ALSO CU accrual - THOSE IN NON-ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS EARN BOTH!

In CCSD, administrators and professional-technical administrators may count this workshop for license renewal OR hour accrual toward step-advancement - not both for administrators.

Washoe County participants will be required to also register for this course in "MyPGS" in order to receive in-service credit toward salary advancement.
