CEEI #7 THEME:

“The Adaptive Leaders.” Change and challenge are constants in education. School and District leaders in the 21st Century must be agile and ready for anything as this was evident during the onset of the COVID -19 climate. CEEI #7 sessions will address content related to the mindsets and traits of adaptive school, and district leaders, by examining the skills that are critical to lead through change.

CEEI DESCRIPTION:

  • CEEI #7 is a leadership program for ANY educator. NASA brought the CEEI to Nevada as a service to educators to build stronger leaders. CEEI #7 is designed for ANY educator in ANY position, especially those aspiring to, or even just thinking about, new leadership roles and responsibilities. Anyone from a first-year teacher to a veteran superintendent would benefit from, and can attend, CEEI #7!
  • The CEEI is modeled after highly effective superintendent / leadership academies throughout the United States. The CEEI teaches the essentials of leadership necessary for optimal success in schools, districts, and organizations alike! Each time NASA offers professional learning sessions under the CEEI umbrella, current relevant and rigorous research based best practices, and information is provided. Since content varies, CEEI alumni can participate in CEEI #7 and again receive credit/salary advancement too.
  • In this virtual online institute, participants will gain the knowledge and skills of essential leadership roles and responsibilities necessary for optimal success. Current relevant and rigorous leadership core competencies will be addressed giving participants the opportunity to reflect, disseminate research-based knowledge related to effective educational leadership behaviors and skills. Principles of Culturally Responsive Leadership behaviors with a focus on excellence for equity will be the driving focus for the institute.
  • Specifically, participants will explore culturally competent behaviors, beliefs, and attitudes that will enable them to increase their understanding of social empowerment, concepts of cultural sensitivity and responsiveness, and the intersection of cultures in the global classroom and school setting as well as provide multiple perspectives and best practices for educating culturally, racially, and ethnic diverse student populations.

LEARNING OUTCOMES - By the end of the CEEI VII, participants will be able to:

  • Assess their own practices related to the principles of adaptive and transformational leadership.
  • Incorporate key concepts and personal reflections from the CEEI VII sessions.
  • Connect the course work to their own work and life.
  • Identify culturally competent behaviors, beliefs, and attitudes.
  • Apply the lessons and course content to teaching and leadership practice.
  • Identify behaviors and beliefs that serve as keys to excellence in equity.
  • Identify the specific behaviors, mindsets, and practices that have a significant effect on adaptive leadership traits that impact school and district culture impacting student achievement, and growth.

EXPECTATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • THERE WILL BE NO HOMEWORK!
  • Unlike past CEEIs, guided practices will be done DURING some synchronous sessions in small groups - meeting and times below. THERE IS NO HOMEWORK REQUIRED! THE SYNCHRONOUS TIMES BELOW ADD UP TO 90 HOURS, WHICH IS 6 CREDITS, 30 CUs, AND SALARY ADVANCEMENT IN CLARK, WASHOE AND MOST NEVADA COUNTIES!
  • Participants will be grouped in small virtual communities to participate in reflections, which will be lead by seasoned "Session Leaders.”  The discussions/reflections in the small focus virtual communities will be applicable to professional roles so participants can evolve in their current positions and beyond. The purpose of the reflections is for participants to demonstrate understanding of adaptive and transformational leadership traits and characteristics that impact change and equitable action to enhance student growth and to assist NASA in our construction of future CEEIs. Again, these reflections will be done in group sessions within the synchronous times.
  • To receive the full 6 license renewal credits and all salary advancement hours, participants must attend every session as the CEE # 7 sessions are synchronous. Participants will not receive credit if they are not present. There will not be makeup sessions.
  • This is a leadership institute, not a conference. ACCEPTABLE ABSENCES ARE ALLOWED FOR illness, injury, and family emergency. If an absence is known in advance, please notify Dr. Peay via email- gretapeay1979@gmail.com prior to the missed class session.WE DO NOT want you to stop your registration if you have a conflict. Call and talk with us first before deciding not to enroll.
  • Because the Center for Educational Excellence Institute #7 is a leadership preparation institute for any educators wishing to fine-tune their leadership skills, participation is expected for optimal learning. Participants will be asked to keep their cameras on (we understand sometimes they have to be turned off, and that is okay), participate in breakout room invitations and remain professional when discussing multiple perspectives.
