Workshop Description:
In our ongoing efforts to establish Social Emotional Learning (SEL) systems and structures, educators must integrate student engagement and a love for learning into every educational setting. Recognizing that a student's need for SEL support evolves over time, potentially shifting even from one academic quarter to the next, this workshop aims to foster discussions on the fundamental needs of our students. Additionally, it offers opportunities to delve deeper and construct a flexible framework that can be tailored to support students, irrespective of their socio-economic status. The objective is not only to address the immediate needs of students but also to create an adaptable structure that accommodates their evolving requirements.
Outcomes:
In this workshop, participants will acquire skills in the adept implementation of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) resources within their classrooms, even in the absence of a designated curriculum. Engaging in meaningful discussions with peers, they will explore the significance of SEL and its various levels of implementation. Through collaborative efforts in small groups, participants will actively construct a classroom SEL framework, designed for seamless implementation beyond the workshop. The aim is to empower educators with practical knowledge and strategies to integrate SEL effectively into their teaching environments.
