Dr. Sheila Ce’ Anderson-Echegoyen
Special Education Educator
I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, and live in Las Vegas, Nevada. I teach 9th-12th grade in self-contained (SLD) Special Education for the Clark County School District. I had the opportunity and pleasure to teach in the different SPED classes that dealt with (mild/moderate to moderate- severe behaviors) with extensive experience in a variety of diverse settings and roles. These experiences opened my mind to Psychology and self-assessment of industrial/organizational and cognitive behavior and learning. This led me to write my first book to learn and inspire Special Education teachers and the hope to change the law. I am active in many facets of education and advocate for all employees, students, and parents. Dr. Anderson- Echegoyen will take on any challenge.
Workshop Description:
This workshop is for all individuals interested in understanding the personal and institutional components of the self-contained classroom. Attendees will gain practical experience and knowledge of Burns and Knox's “Classroom as a Complex Adaptive System”. They will gain inspiring tools to handle personal and institutional components in the self-contained classroom. This session will define data and best practices for personal and institutional components.
Empowerment is the degree of autonomy and self-determination in people and
communities. This enables them to represent their interests in a responsible and self-determined way, acting on their authority
Philosophy is a systematic study of general and fundamental questions concerning topics like existence, reason, knowledge, value, mind, and language. It is a rational and critical inquiry that reflects on its methods and assumptions.
Psychology:
Psychology is the study of mind and behavior. Its subject matter includes the behavior of humans and nonhumans, both conscious and unconscious phenomena, and mental processes such as thoughts, feelings, and motives.
Personal Components:
It's time to empower teachers to achieve significant gains in themselves, classroom practices, and the building operations around them, plus student achievement. Including cognitive-behavioral and social-emotional learning.
Burns and Knox (2011) Classroom as a Complex Adaptive System: Define data and best practices. Define the different types of data used in classrooms to determine what's working and what's not. Then actions can be taken by teachers to deliver instruction that meets their students' needs and helps them to grow.
Institutional Components:
Increase school effectiveness and school improvement. The data in your schools provide important clues about teacher instruction and student performance. Learn how to analyze current data collection practices and determine both strengths and areas for growth.
Understand how to balance and achieve districtwide goals using data to improve student achievement and self-satisfaction (Maslow).
Data helps district and school leaders create a strong blueprint with measurable results for continuously improving schools so decisions are no longer based on incomplete or biased information.
