Workshop Description

Positive Psychology and Ei just might be the missing ingredients in taking your school or classroom to the next level--both can be utilized to enhance leadership, well-being, and performance. Research has proven that the most impactful leaders are ones who understand how to work with others productively, help them feel valued, and create positive and collaborative environments.

Segment 1: attendees will be introduced to positive psychology and its impact in and out of education. Participants will explore research-based strategies they can implement immediately to help foster positive connections in self, relationships, and environment to maximize staff and student potential.

Segment 2: participants will discover their “Signature Strengths” and apply them. Additionally, attendees will learn how to lead others to strength discovery and application.

Segment 3: participants will assess effective leadership and the impact each can have on engagement and well-being. Ei, the neuroscience of emotion, and implementation strategies will be shared. Lastly, an Emotional Culture Index will be discussed and implemented. An ECI is a simple, fast, and free resource that provides a real-time measure of three dimensions of emotions at work--current, expected, and ideal--in multiple categories.

Course Objectives:

  • Become familiar with positive psychology and its connection to education
  • Learn how to apply positive psychology techniques with self, staff, and students to maximize potential and enhance performance
  • Identify and apply researched-based “Signature Strengths” in life and work
  • Learn how to systematically help others discover and apply their own “Signature Strengths”
  • Understand and apply emotional intelligence and how emotionally intelligent leaders increase engagement, performance, and retention
  • Participate in an Emotional Culture Index (ECI) and learn how it can enhance culture, engagement, and performance
