Workshop Summary:

The Trauma-Informed Practices Workshop aims to equip educators with critical skills to understand and effectively address students who have experienced trauma. Comprehensive understanding clearly highlights the research showing the vast affectation of trauma, where its occurrence reaches 46% in students, under 17, and how it significantly disrupts brain development, learning ability, behavior, and emotional regulation.

Through this course, you will receive effective strategies aimed at utilizing Trauma-Informed Practices, thus creating a sensitive, supportive, and trusting environment for every student. This rather challenging endeavor will transform your classroom into a space where students feel safe, driving their motivation to learn and develop resilience. Upon completion of the course, educators will betwixt with understanding their struggling students’ needs and brains work, leading to a successful promotion of overall well-being and academic achievements for all students, regardless of their past traumas.

You’ll learn how to:

●         Cultivate safety and trust in the classroom

●         Create a climate of compassion & inclusion

●         Work with students who have faced trauma and combat the impacts

●         Build positive discipline systems

●         Implement trauma informed practices and resources

In this workshop, all PreK-12 educators will engage in essential skills for comprehending and effectively addressing students who have undergone trauma. A thorough understanding emphasizes research indicating that trauma affects a significant number of students, leading to notable disruptions in brain development, learning capabilities, behavior, and emotional regulation. According to a meta-analysis of 213 studies involving more than 270,000 students participating infused strategies also showed improved classroom behavior, an increased ability to manage stress and depression, and better attitudes about themselves, others, and school which we know helps to narrow achievement and proficiency gaps in all students.
